How to Buy Discount Golf Equipment

Posted by on July 26, 2009

When it comes to buying golf equipment there’s a whole lot of options to choose from – from the top tier brands like Callaway golf clubs and TaylorMade drivers to the more modest golf carry bags and accessories. With all that variety, it’s so easy to lose track of what your original goal might be as a newbie golfer.

At the end of the day, your goal should be to buy the right equipment that will allow you to enjoy the sport. Sometimes, the top of the line stuff is not what you need – at least to start with. What’s important is that you get a good feel for golf and not break your wallet for it. In the off chance you may not pursue golf that avidly, you won’t feel so bad with all the expenses you’ve made. But how will you know for sure which golf gear is best for you?

The best place to begin is with doing online research. As it is with any investment, research what you’ll be spending money on. That means checking out the different brands, the current models out in the market (and even those from last season). Look for reviews on popular brands and find out what other golfers say about the premium prices and is it worth it. You know that there are some golf equipment manufacturers that just capitalize because of good marketing. But when taken to the course, their performance has little to no difference from less expensive, discount golf equipment.

Talk with others players. Reading online reviews is great but nothing beats conversations with real people. If you’re new to a club or just starting out at the local driving range, this would be a great opportunity to get to know the members and regulars. Many will be happy to share with you their experiences regarding their own golf equipment purchases - like which golf travel bag brand is both durable and reasonable. They may even recommend you golf equipment shops and retailers that offer good deals.

When you go to the Internet for more info, you can take the data you got from the people you talked to and validate your findings. See different opinions and compare reviews. Once you’ve chosen which brands and models best suit your playing level and your budget, searching online can be a great tool to find what you need at a good price. Remember, a great price doesn't mean the best one. If you end up with a poor-quality item, you may end up paying more in the long-run in terms of inconvenience and frustration – something that’s hard to place a tag price on. So weigh price against quality for the best chances of a good deal.

This may seem like an arduous task for something that’s supposed to be enjoyable. But trust us when we say, the effort is worth it. By doing your necessary research, not only will you be able to make a good decision on your golf equipment, you’ll also learn more about the sport of golf, which is always nice. Fujikura ZCOM Six Shaft Review

Posted by on July 26, 2009

Overview/Technology-

The Fujikura ZCOM Six is one of those golf shafts that doesn’t necessarily get the wide-spread praise that some of the other Fujikura shaft receive.  But let me tell you, this is one sweet shaft.

The ZCOM is an ultra-lightweight shaft that increases launch angle and spin and performs extremely well for a wide range of players.  Players from Senior to the PGA tour, all have benefited from this shaft.

Considered to be a medium launch, medium spin shaft.  The higher torque (4.5) coupled with a light weight (range of 52 to 59 grams), makes this shaft a monster for increasing distance and carry.

The ZCOM bending profile allows for a flatter ball flight which is why the better players like this ultra light shaft. For above average to better players with smooth tempos, the ZCOM is truly a shaft built for speed and distance.

Actual Player Feedback-

“The Z Com shafts are premier possibly the best shafts on the market especially the SIX”

“Simply the best distance shaft on the market.  I sell ton’s of these monster’s.”

Pros/Positives-

An Ultra lightweight shaft that will definitely increase ball speed.  This is a proven winner on all tours making this a very versatile shaft - many players will fit well into this profile.  A couple of guys that play the ZCOM?  How about Zach Johnson (fairway) and Luke Donald for starters.  On the LPGA tour, Annika Sorenstam is probably the best known user of the ZCOM.

Cons/Negatives-

Price.  This shaft is an upper end shaft over $200.  Not many people will drop this kind of money.

Overall Rating-

Providing you don’t mind spending extra on a shaft, the Fujikura ZCOM Six is definitely one to try.  The ZCOM is a lightweight shaft that delivers ball speed that produces performance in both carry and distance.  Fujikura should really market this shaft more, many golfers would love this shaft.

Nevertheless, one disadvantage has nevertheless been reported in relation to the design of Sky Caddie: you have to keep it dry all the time particularly on rainy rounds. All sports have their own attire or equipment you use to play the game effectively. The basic golf equipment you need is a golf ball and some golf clubs. The clubs include the shaft of the club and the head that is different depending on the club type, whether a driver or putter.

From the Golf clubs you get, one of the first and foremost clubs you want is a golf club driver. Drivers are used for distance, and are used at the beginning of a hole to drive the ball the farthest distance possible. Your landscape will disctate what type of golf club driver will make the right drive. You will then also need your golf club wedges and irons, and putters to complete your golf club set. If you want to buy all the golf clubs new, then any golf store should have what you are looking for. For those starting out, a used golf club iron set may be the perfect tool to get you to learn the game and improve before buying expensive new clubs.

Other equipment will also need to be purchased after you get the initial basics of a golf club and golf balls. These include the golf club bag, which conveniently will hold all your clubs to take around the course. They will will also be the walking shoes and clothes that you wear that will comfortably allow you to shoot the best shots. Lastly, some small items include the golf club headcovers and golf club tee. The headcovers are optional and not everyone uses them.
